Microwave

MW Information for Planners

Transport planners shall see up-to-date configuration information about microwave links within their existing planning tool. This Use Case is an example for an existing software providing additional customer value by applying the vendor-agnostic microwave management interface. The MW Link Information Use Case is focusing on retrieving and displaying Configuration, Status and Performance information about microwave radio interfaces.

Preventive Maintenance

The SDN controller can provide easy access to almost real time air interface information with a granularity of minutes and store them in a data lake for posterior analysis. The Preventive Maintenance Use Case is about analyzing the information stored in the data lake. Based on different patterns found in the radio link KPIs it is possible to infer future network problems, correlate this information with external data like meteorological information to enrich the original data.

Ethernet PHY

Ethernet Port Information for Planners

The Ethernet Port Information for Planners Use Case is focusing on retrieving and displaying Capability, Configuration and Status information about Ethernet ports, which are hosted by sub-structured hardware. It shall proof the capabilities of the new Ethernet PHY information model TR‑541 together with the Equipment part of the Core Information Model TR-512.

Ethernet Port Documentation Verification

The Ethernet Port Documentation Verification Use Case is focusing on retrieving and comparing Configuration and Status information about Ethernet ports, which are hosted by sub-structured hardware. It shall proof the capabilities of the new Ethernet PHY information model TR‑541 together with the Equipment part of the Core Information Model TR-512.

Device Management Interface Profiling

Automated Commissioning Phase 1 – DHCP

The DHCP Use Case is focusing on the first phase of the Automated Commissioning Process and it shall proof that regulations made in TR-545 suffice for unifying the steps necessary to connect the Device with the operator’s IP network.

Automated Commissioning Phase 2 – Netconf Call Home

The Netconf Call Home Use Case is focusing on the second phase of the Automated Commissioning Process. It shall proof that regulations made in TR-545 suffice for unifying the steps necessary to connect the Device to the SDN controller after receiving own and Controller IP addresses from a DHCP server.

Candidate Data Store

This Candidate Data Store Use Case is focusing on the implementation of the optional Capabilities of the Netconf definition (IETF RFC 6241). It shall proof that regulations made in TR-545 suffice for unifying the Devices’ reaction on Netconf bulk set requests, which could only be partly executed.

Confirmed Commit

This Confirmed Commit Use Case is focusing on the implementation of an optional Capability of the Netconf definition (IETF RFC 6241). It shall proof that regulations made in TR-545 suffice for unifying and improving the Devices’ reaction, if the management connection has been cut by a successful configuration activity.

Optical Transport

The first step for a SDN implementation of the optical transport network is the test of the connection between the optical devices (transponder) and the SDN controller.

For this reason a TAPI-based „technology specific yang model“ for ONF Core Information Model should be implemented in the optical Devices and in the SDN controller.

In order to check this implementation, a graphical user interface should be created. This is used to show the value of the parameters, to change them and to send those new values to the devices (configuration use case).

Optical Transponder Configuration

The development of the information model for the optical transponder has just started.

A graphical user interface shall be used for presenting the values of a couple of configuration attributes. It shall also be possible to open an additional form for modifying some of these attributes’ values and to initiate actual configuration by pressing an apply button.
